2022 FOTK Event was a Huge Success

Some of the 2022 FOTK riders enjoying some of the high-country roads on 3 Forks road near Alpine

Friends Of the Kids again made the journey to the shelter, with all riders invited, after 2 years of Pandemic interruption. We still continued our ongoing support thru AMAZON deliveries and limited participation deliveries while the community was in lock-down for 2020 and 2021, BUT this year $5000+ worth of supplies were delivered, and then we then took the time to ride the White Mountains on our motorcycles.

FOTK Pandemic Updates

The Friends Of The Kids Board of Directors is pleased to announce we have been hard at work supporting the children at the shelter throughout the entire Pandemic. Being unable to visit the shelter in 2020, we provided the supplies needed by using Amazon as our primary vendor. Their delivery service had daily access to the shelter, and carried well over $3,100 of everything from school supplies to food stuffs, to Christmas presents.

For 2021, we were able to make use of the newly acquired FOTK trailer (supporter sponsored) to take ANOTHER $3,100 worth of goods to the shelter on Saturday the 23rd. And Jeannie, Nancy, Ali, and Mike have just completed a shopping trip to gather Christmas presents that we will deliver after the Thanksgiving holiday. That along with the Amazon delivered Christmas tree and decorations we sent them will be another $1,000+ in support for our kids.

Friends Of The Kids News

The Friends Of The Kids Board of Directors has made the hard decision to not hold the annual ride to Whiteriver this June 26th thru the 28th. The current state of affairs with the health concerns for the riders, the children, and the staff of the Shelter, and the cancellation of the White Mountain Bike Rally have led us to this decision.

We still have full intentions of providing the needed support we provide to the Shelter each year. The BoD will be taking those supplies to the home in October. We are also working with the staff to meet some immediate needs (i.e. disinfecting wipes and spray, and baby wipes). If you have an of these hard to find products and you would like to make a special donation, please reach out to any member of the Board, or email friendsofthekids@gmail.com.

We want to thank all of our faithful supporters for their generosity and continuing support. We hope to come back stronger and more enthusiastic next year.

Playground Grant tops off funding for new Shelter playground!

FOTK

Published by friendsofthekids · November 26 at 6:25 PM ·

We hinted at some good news a few weeks back, and we wanted to share the details with you. FOTK has received a grant from the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community to put us over the top for our playground project. We are actively seeking quotes to give the WMAT Council to enable the matching funds, and should be well on our way to getting the playground completed. Thanks to all that have helped on this!

The letter that accompanied our grant. We are in negotiations with playground vendors now!
